Doin’ The Blog Hop: Sucker Literary’s Vol. III Release

There’s this cool anthology of paranormal romance YA fiction (totally my thing!) called Sucker Literary, and they’ve just released their third volume. Here’s their cover, and check out more information on Goodreads.Image

The marvelous Krysten Lindsay Hager, a fellow Astraea Press author, invited me to hop with her. Can’t wait to read her book!! She tagged me last week, and here’s her bio:

Krysten Lindsay Hager is an author and book addict who has never met a bookstore she didn’t like. She gets more excited when an author she loves, “friends” or follows her on a social media site now than she did when she got asked for her phone number by a cute guy back in high school. She’s worked as a journalist and also writes middle grade, YA, and adult fiction. Her debut novel, TRUE COLORS, will be out June 17th from Astraea Press. She is originally from Michigan and has lived in South Dakota, Portugal, and currently resides in Southern Ohio where you can find her reading and writing when she’s not catching up on her favorite shows. You can see what she’s up to at: ww.krystenlindsay.com.

And for a little about me . . .

1)      What am I working on?

Right now I haven’t been writing much, though my official work-in-progress is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet set in present-day D.C. and told from the P.O.V. of Paris and Rosaline.

I’m still adjusting to my new, full-time job as a school librarian. It’s awesome, but for my writing’s sake I’m looking forward to summer. Outside of librarian-ing (so not a word), I’m freelance editing an amazing adult science fiction/thriller/romance that I can’t wait for the rest of the world to get to read! It’s that good. Yeah. And the author has been great to work with.

2)      How does my work differ from others of its genre?

My writing is definitely a reflection of who I am, so therefore it’s different from anyone else’s (isn’t that convenient!). I’m working on pushing myself outside of my normal boundaries, though, and not shying away from the tragedy in the ending of R&J.

3)      Why do I write what I do?

Once you’ve started writing, you start seeing everything as a potential story. Some of them keep pestering you to be told. Sometimes there are characters who just won’t leave you alone until you start putting them down on paper–or screen. I never know which idea is going to hit me hard. I’ve had a couple of stories percolating that haven’t yet shouted at me, and I’m just in a holding pattern with those. It’s always fun to see what is going to be my next manuscript.

4)      How does my writing process work?

I wish, I truly do, that I had some foolproof system. But what seems to work best for me is to think, think, think about my story for a while, and then write it all during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), which happens every November. I’ve done it three years in a row. Then I take the rest of the year for rewrites and revising, sometimes with more success than others. We’ll see how working full-time will affect my writing in the long-term. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will all work out.

Cover Reveal: SOULS ENTWINED by Anne B. Cole

Yeah, April’s cool. I mean, its showers bring May flowers and all . . . there’s April Fools Day* . . . Tax Day** . . . my book birthday*** . . . AND it’s my Critique Partner’s book birthday, too! Shazam!

Because, ladies and gentlemen, on April 30 we’ll have SOULS ENTWINED by Anne B. Cole available from Soul Mate Publishing.

Now Anne and I, along with our other CP Joan, created our little group Scribblers of the Eastern Time Zone (SETZ) about fourteen months ago. We’ve talked each other through several manuscripts, cheered on each others’ successes, and provided guidance when the path to publication was unclear. It’s been an awesome ride. So when I learned that Anne and I would be sharing book birthmonths (is that even a thing? I don’t care.), I was super-excited!!! She’s an amazing CP and a great writer with a unique story to tell. You won’t regret reading SOULS ENTWINED. And now, without further ado, the official cover reveal (isn’t it a beaut?):

Souls Entwined

A Paranormal Romantic Suspense

When a cursed family heirloom sends Gretta Dobbs back in time, a hunky construction worker, Sam Daggett, suddenly finds himself love struck and joins her adventure. Their souls entwine within the bodies of young lovers on a Greek island in 1829, where they begin to unravel the mysteries behind Gretta’s ring all while avoiding a bloodthirsty pirate who is determined to seek revenge. Gretta and Sam must find the secrets needed to save her and her relatives from an afterlife in purgatory and return to their own lives – or risk becoming prisoners of the past, continuing the evil cycle of the ring’s curse.

*Funniest holiday of the year. Except for (maybe) Talk Like A Pirate Day, but how many times can you say “Aaargh!” before your throat’s sore?

**And who doesn’t love taxes?!? Amirite?

***APRIL 15–mark your calendars! (And, no, just because it’s the same day as Tax Day doesn’t mean I’m cheating making this list.)
